NATS, Nottinghamshire All Terrain bikeS club has rides throughout the Derbyshire Peak District, we have rides throughout the year in all weathers. This area is packed with all sorts of technically demanding climbs and down hills from high speed quarry descents to exhilarating single track. Not forgetting the rocky tracks and steep trails this area is famous for. Every ride is filled with spectacular scenery, some of the best the Peaks have to offer. Whatever your riding style there is something to both test your ability and your skills. But don't forget that this is a very social club, so we do take our time and try and visit the Peaks well renowned tea shops and sample the fine teas and cakes. You will arrive back at the cars tired but with the satisfaction that you have ridden (pushed) up and down some of the most popular mountain biking trails in this part of the country. If you've never been there now is your chance to sample some magic biking. If you have ridden around this area we might surprise you with tracks or an area you haven't tried yet......!
We don't only ride in the Peaks, we do a fair number of our rides in the forests of Nottinghamshire. We visit this area at least once a month. These rides are normally a bit longer than the Peaks, but pack in as much fun and enjoyment but in a completely different way. It really is a great area that is full to bursting point with forest trails and hidden single track. It is a complete contrast to a Peaks ride and it is easily possible to do a 25 or 50 mile ride with only using minor roads for less than a mile! This area does let you get away from it all and is hillier than you might think! One trip here and you will keep on coming back for more. The huge array of trails lets ride leaders put on many different rides so that each is different from the last.
If you're not satisfied with these two great areas (you are hard to please, aren't you?) then don't worry, there is a ride for you! We also visit Leicestershire now and again, mostly for evening rides but the occasional Sunday ride too. We also go to Cannock Chase several times a year. This area was made for mountain bikes. Hard ground all year trails. Hundreds of hidden magical single track trails. Every time we visit you get to enjoy a new track. Cannock is littered with so many trails that we have been riding there for over seven years and still find new tracks every time. Church Stretton in Shropshire is among many club members favourites. It's not too far away and the riding up and of course down the Long Mynd is unforgettable. It really is fantastic biking and more members visit this area every time we put a ride on in this spectacular part of the country. There really is something for everybody, from a tight single track down the beautiful Minton Batch to a three mile downhill through the 'Pony ring'. Huge forest climbs up to the gliding club, fast gravel tracks and a descent on hard grass that does seem to go on for ever. An area for a grin factor of 10. If you are interested in going further afield for the day or even a weekend, look no further. We tend to keep these for summer and not each one is included every year. So keep an eye out for Wales, Afan, Glyncorrwg, Cwncarn, Coed-Y -Brenin as seen in ALL the mags and a guarantee that you will have a major time. The Quantocks with more amazing riding, this always proves popular and gets a good turn out. Swaledale, far away up North for some members, but always a good turn out for this excellent and popular ride. We have also been to Swansea for a weekend that is still being talked about. We have had a couple of weekends away in the Yorkshire Dales; this area is full of unforgettable and challenging tracks and always proves popular. The most recent additions to the areas we visit are the North Yorkshire Moors and the Cheviot Hills on the England Scotland border. for those with the desire to jump further, we also go to Chicksands, Aston Hill & Cannock DH track to hone our skills. Many club members have flown or driven themselves to , France, places such as, Morzine, Les Gets, Chatel, Luchon (see links for Holiday deals here with Club Members Ian and Kate). Some have been to the USA, Colorado, Moab to ride the famous slick rock. Canada, Whistler and surrounding area.
