I'm in the market for a shiny new set of bars (as well as a stem) & I was wondering whether I should go Carbon or Alloy for the bars???? Hmmmmmm choices !!!!
I have heard some Carbon horror stories so come on chaps what are you thoughts??

I've seen 2 alloy mountain bars snap and 0 carbon bars
carbon road bars seem snappy but i've had my carbon bar for 7 years now and it's still going strong! Its an Easton Monkeylite
The new superlight crank bros carbon bars look nice - with matching stems!
Set you back a few quid tho! _________________ Chris

I've broken a lot of (admittedly second hand) alloy stuff this year, so I think you should go for carbon if you can afford it.
But whatever you buy, keep an eye on it for stress-marks and cracks, and consider replacing anything alloy after 3 years or so if you ride a lot. _________________ NATS photo group: http://www.flickr.com/groups/nats-mtb/
